Collecting signatures
Updated
A Signature field lets someone sign on the phone's screen with a finger. Signature fields are available on every plan, including Free.
Add a signature field
- Open the form in the builder and tap Add Field.
- Choose Signature.
- Give it a clear label, for example "Customer signature".
- Check Required if the form should not be submitted unsigned.
- Tap Save.
More than one signer
Add one Signature field per person, each with its own label: "Customer signature", "Technician signature", "Supervisor sign-off". A form can have as many signature fields as you need.
To record who signed, add a Short Text field such as "Customer name" next to the signature. The signature field itself stores only the drawing.
Signing
The signer draws in the box. Clear signature starts over. Signing works without a connection: the signature is saved with the submission on the device and syncs when the device reconnects.
Where signatures appear
- In the PDF report, as the signature image above a signature line.
- On the submission in Results, and on client share links (Pro).
- In Excel and Google Sheets exports as "Yes" for a signed field. The image itself is not included in spreadsheets.
To send the PDF automatically, open the form's After submission settings, turn on Email PDF on submit, and enter up to 10 addresses. Every new submission is emailed to those addresses.
Limits
- Signatures are drawn. Typed or uploaded signatures are not supported.
- MobileForm does not verify the signer's identity, collect a signer email, or produce an audit certificate. For contracts that need those, use a dedicated e-signature service.
See a working example on Forms with signature capture. To show a sign-off section only when it is needed, see Conditional fields.
