Show the right fields with conditional logic
Follow-up questions appear only when an answer calls for them. Mark a check as Fail and the defect fields show up. Try it on the sample form, then flip it offline.
- Defect photo, Describe the defect, SeverityHidden
Show this field when Roof decking is Fail
- Customer sign-off sectionHidden
Show this section when Customer present? is checked
How it works
- Step 1
Add a rule
In the builder, tap Add visibility rule on a field. Pick an earlier question and a condition, for example Roof decking is Fail.
- Step 2
Hide whole sections
Put the rule on a Section Header to show or hide everything under it at once.
- Step 3
Fill only what applies
Field workers see just the fields that apply. Hidden answers stay out of the submission and the PDF.
What it supports
| Earlier question | Conditions |
|---|---|
| Pass / Fail, Dropdown | is, is not, is one of |
| Checkbox | is checked, is not checked |
| Any answer field | is filled, is empty |
- Section rules: a rule on a Section Header hides the header and every field below it, up to the next one.
- Chained rules: if a field depends on a question that is hidden, it stays hidden too.
- Rules run on the phone, so they work without a connection.
- Answers in hidden fields are kept while filling. Change the answer back and they reappear.
- Required fields are only required while they are shown.
- Hidden answers are left out of the submission and PDF, and are blank in Excel and Google Sheets.
Limits
- One condition per field. A rule cannot combine several questions; "is one of" covers several options of one question.
- Rules only show fields. There is no "hide when" or jump to a page.
- Number fields support is filled and is empty only, not greater than or less than.
- The question a rule depends on must come earlier in the form.
- Multi-select, Attachment, Repeating Section, and Calculation fields can be hidden by a rule but cannot drive one.

Conditional logic questions
Is conditional logic on the free plan?
Building rules needs Pro or Team. Anyone on Free can fill a form that already has rules, including jobs assigned to them.
Can I hide a whole section?
Yes. Add the rule to a Section Header. When the rule is not met, the header and every field below it, up to the next Section Header, are hidden.
Can one rule depend on two answers?
No. Each field has one condition on one earlier question. "Is one of" lets a single rule match several options of that question, for example Severity is one of Major or Safety risk.
What happens to answers in hidden fields?
They are kept while the form is being filled, so changing an answer back restores them. When the form is submitted, hidden answers are left out of the record and the PDF.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Rules are checked on the phone, so fields appear and hide the same way with or without signal.
